The graduation application is the first step you will need to take in order to graduate from your academic program. Review the application and award processes below to better understand what happens once you submit your application.
Complete the online graduation application in my.sc.edu. The Apply to Graduate link is located under the Student tab in the bottom right corner of the page. During the application process, you will be asked to verify your program, name, and diploma mailing address. Students expecting to graduate should apply early, based upon your campus or academic unit deadlines.
Your academic unit has approximately a month after commencement to complete the task of ensuring all degree requirements have been met and awarding degrees to candidates.
Each year, undergraduate students earn notable academic honors . Those who excel in their studies may receive designations on their transcript.
The official University of South Carolina diploma details a graduate’s name, college, degree, and honors along with the graduation date. Imprinted with the official seal of the university, your diploma will be signed by the university president, awarding school’s dean, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the secretary of the university.
Your diploma will be mailed to the address identified on your graduation application. Diplomas are typically mailed within three months after you graduate. You can verify your diploma address by viewing your submitted graduation application in my.sc.edu.
Don't let a parking ticket stop you from receiving your diploma. Make sure any holds against your university account are removed at least two weeks prior to graduation. To find out if your account has any outstanding holds, view hold information in my.sc.edu.
Diplomas are mailed to graduates within three months after graduation. The following services are available online through our official diploma vendor, Michael Sutter Company.
If your diploma is returned to our office after we attempt to mail it to you, we will hold it for one year from your graduation date. During that time period, we will gladly resend it to you at your new address once you contact our office . After one year, a request for a replacement diploma is required.
The awarding of your degree may take up to 30 days. Degree candidates who are awarded a degree or certificate can view this in my.sc.edu on their unofficial transcript. Official transcripts requested after the posting of the degree will show the degree as well.
